Why This Course Exists

Racial trauma does not live only in the mind.
It lives in the body—in breath patterns, muscle tension, vigilance, fatigue, and grief carried across generations.

Many Black and Diasporic people are asked to keep going without spaces that truly understand how racism shapes our nervous systems, relationships, and sense of safety.
Black Body–Heart–Mind was created to offer:
-
A community healing space, rather than isolated self-work
-
Somatic practices that are accessible, choice-based, and culturally aware
-
Language that names harm without pathologising our responses to it
At Black Body-Heart-Mind, your responses make sense.
Course Overview
The Black Body–Heart–Mind is a 6-week live, online somatic course designed for Black and Diasporic people seeking supportive ways to navigate the embodied impacts of racial trauma, chronic stress, and systemic harm.
This course offers a community-based space to slow down, reconnect, and build practical somatic tools that support regulation, resilience, and rest—without pressure to perform healing or disclose personal trauma.
Each weekly session combines gentle teaching, guided somatic practices, reflection, and collective presence. Practices are invitational, adaptable, and grounded in choice, allowing participants to engage in ways that feel safe and respectful of their own lived experiences.

What To Expect
What You’ll Experience
Over six consecutive Wednesdays, participants will be guided through a progressive learning arc rooted in three core pillars:

-
Empowered Recognition – cultivating awareness of how racial stress and trauma show up in the body, heart, and mind, while reclaiming agency and self-trust
-
Somatic Tending – learning accessible ways to care for the nervous system through grounding, rest, breath, movement, and stillness
-
Embodied Resourcing – building sustainable inner and collective resources that support ongoing care, boundaries, and connection beyond the course
Sessions are live and relational, emphasising community presence rather than content consumption. Cameras, sharing, and participation are always optional.
